Should we really RIP Auto-tune?

Jay Z has put to press a new song 'DEATH of Auto Tune' (DOA). My inner Hip Hop head is and always will be a fan of the witty, slick talking, streetwise kid from Brooklyn. You have to admit he is talented. No matter how some people hate on him. Gotta love his story, and respect his grind. That's why for a person to know what its like to be in the music business for as long as he has, he should be more sympathetic to new creative and innovative ways to make music and the trends of the younger generation. I am an 80's baby. During my formative years, I was listening to any and everything Death row put out. The Bay area was blazing. Female M.C.'s were on top of the world. The West Coast dominated video countdowns, tour dates and radio interviews. That whole era from about 92-98 was full of great music to ME. The boys dressed in plaid shirts, rain boots, and Bubble jackets. In the summer, it was white tees and plaid shorts. Martin was brand new on Thursday nights and all the girls was trying to dress like the boys. My point is times are different now. The art of Hip Hop is evolving. Skinny jeans and auto tune is whats hot right now. Who is he to say that everyone should sound , act and look like him. If they did he wouldn't be who he is. He has his lane. If he doesn't want to use or be apart of the trend that's him. But don't knock it. Using Auto-Tune now is no different than using samples in the 90's, or wearing shinny suites. And we all know he fell victim to both of those trends. Can anyone say Sunshine? Jays biggest hit is nothing but one big ass sample of Annie. Ohh How soon we forget what its was like to be young. I guess when your head gets that big memories get lost in there or something. The real problem Mr Carter has is that these new dudes aint 'Jockin Jay Z Jockin Jockin Jay Z'. He likes to boast about how he starts trends of his own. Like on the Jeezy track" A bad influence got the world drinking gold bottles". So since he didn't start the trends they shouldn't matter? and I thought Either was a humbling experience for this dude.

So should we kill off Auto tune? I may not be a fan of some of the new trends going on right now. And I am gonna kill myself if I see another adolescent boy in a pair of lime green skinny jeans. But it is what it is. They not checking for my old ass. My being trendy days are numbered as I leave my 20's. But I happen to like T-Pain, and 808 and Heartbreaks. The New Boys and yes Kiss Me Through the Phone is on my ipod. So get yo $$ . Bottom line - Auto Tune is a trend. It will fade away only to be resurrected in 20 years to be back at the top of the music charts again. Just like girl singing groups or fuchsia lipstick. It needs no help from him. Long Live Auto-Tune.... For now!
