We Rep the WEST!

I had this whole blog ready to go and post. Last week, I decided that I was gonna spot light an artist. One of my favorites right now, Nippey Hussle, but over the course of a week things have changed. If you don’t know, I am completely honored and excited to be the first to announce that I am now the official blogger for Cali Radio. #TEAMCALIRADIO I have supported Caliradio from the beginning as a fan of music and the West Coast, my home. Words can’t even explain how I feel right now to be apart of such an amazing team, movement, and family. West West, DJ Cali Slimm, Baby Girl, Party Man James, Classmatic, DJXtreme, I salute you all.

“We Rep the WEST”

This brings me to my change of heart on my original post. As I was speaking to our marking director about my future with Cali radio, she let me know that my blog will be read not only in America, but Internationally. That got me to thinking about what the world thinks about Los Angeles and California as a whole. One of my biggest pet peeves is out of towners’ misconception of my city. Listen folks, perception is NOT always reality. I have heard that LA is fake, LA is bouge , LA is so “Hollywood”, LA is full of nothing but plastic females and wanna be dope boys. Let me explain something to my readers, every other city on earth has all of those things and then some. And for the record LA don’t have dope boys. LA has Hood Niggas and Gangstas. Even among all of that my city is more than good weed. Our music, our food, our people, our weather. Where else can you go from 75 degrees at the beach and within a half hour hit the snow? Los Angeles has so many great things to offer beside that “Hollywood life”. My little area of Leimert Park alone has a farmers market, art galleries, Black family owned businesses and great restaurants. We also host the MLK day parade and festival, Jazz and blues festivals, and the annual Taste of Soul. This is all in one small area of Los Angeles. Lots more happens in Inglewood, Compton, Long Beach, all over. Give us a chance. Angelinos are beautiful people and our struggle is documented. I get that if you didn’t grow up here, you might not know, but don’t judge us when you don’t know us. Or go off of a couple of bad examples in a city of 3.7 million. I would never set foot in any ones home and not be respectful of where they live. I have love for everywhere.

So don’t you dare come to LA and talk bad about MY city. If you don’t like LA, F*** you as a Staff, Record Label, and Mutha f***n Crew! (in my Tupac voice) All I have in the end is my family and where I’m from, and I goes hard for both. You can email me; hit me up on twitter or any of the Cali Radio family if you need to know what’s what in LA. We welcome you to experience OUR LA.
