This last week the subject of a young 17 year boy that was killed has been the talk everywhere. I don't ever comment on things I don't know about or know only bits and pieces of some of the facts. The fact of the matter is that I have been consumed with my own life, I honestly have only gathered what I have from Fox news. Let's be real, they don't really portray my kind in the best light. However no, I am not blind nor am I ignorant to the ways of the world I live in. Even before this unbelievable crime, I think people forget with all the accomplishments us as black people have made in recent history that we are barely a good 2 generations out of Jim Crow. My Grand parents lived it. My mom lived it. Living in East Texas during the 40s & 50s. Its so easy to go through life hustling and moving and partying and being young to not realize that just like my grand mother was on the receiving end of hate. Their are people still living amongst us right now that were delivering the hate. Just like my grandmom taught her children compassion, kindness and forgiveness. Its people that taught their kids the opposite. The after effects of that can be felt TODAY. I had a co worker tell me once that we wouldn't need welfare if it wasn't for all the black people on it. I shut her ass up when I let her know that black people are only about 12% of the population. I made her look it up. You would think when making a dumb ass ignorant statement like she did she would have her facts in order.
The point I'm trying to make is that the fight is long from being over. Especially when you have situations like when a grown ass man feels "threaten" by a little ass black kid with NO weapon. Makes him beg for his life. Shoots him dead. While completely ignoring police orders. In a deep south hick town in Florida. Where the cops dont even follow procedure in a homicide investigation. Where they probably still fly the confederate flag in all government buildings. (OK the flag part is just me saying. I have no proof of that. But I'm willing to put money that some government buildings down there still fly them!) Now I'm no artist, but I think I just painted a clear picture as to why this man is still walking the streets.
I'm just one person and this is my perspective of the world
